Veron out for a month

There is more bad news for Inter today with playmaker Juan Sebastian Veron set to be sidelined for a month.

The Argentine picked up an ankle injury in last night’s Champions League defeat to Villarreal which has compromised the rest of his season.

Veron has twisted his ankle and damaged ligaments which will need approximately four weeks to heal.

The loss of the South American is a massive blow for boss Roberto Mancini whose tactical plans revolve heavily around the ex-Chelsea flop.

Mancini is now likely to promote Chilean international David Pizarro to the side after he was signed as an alternative to Veron in the summer.

Veron wasn’t the only player to miss the resumption of training on Wednesday afternoon with Dejan Stankovic also in the treatment room.

The Serbian and Montenegro international picked up a shoulder injury in Spain on Tuesday and remains a doubt for Saturday’s trip to Ascoli.
