想問paper 1 出成點 ?
Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority
Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination 2006
Economics A-Level Paper 1
Section B(8 marks each)
1. Price is the maximum a consumer is willing to pay at the margin. Why the maximum? Under what condition will a consumer be willing to pay the maximum on the average?
2. What is the difference between rent and profit? Can they both be capitalized? Explain.
3. If an orchard owner employs a beekeeper to pollinate his fruit trees, is there one firm or two firms? If you don’t know the answer, explain why you don’t know.
4. The market prices of a good are moving up and down sharply one day and become relatively stable the next day. On which of these two days are the market prices of that good closer to equilibrium? How can you tell that equilibrium exist in the market?
5. What is Pareto condition? Illustrate and explain why this condition is not satisfied in buffet dinners?
Section C (10 marks each)
6. In a store where customers bargain for lower prices, some customers end up paying higher prices than others for the same goods. Is this price discrimination? If not, why not? Of yes, does this reflect different elasticities of demand? If it does not, what explains why different customers pay different prices?
(Incomplete questions shown below, not exact wordings.)
7. Hong Kong Disneyland charges only one entrance fee and visitors can take as many rides as they want to in the park. While the California Disneyland in earlier days charged an entrance fee, then visitors needed to pay for each ride separately. Are both consumer surpluses extracted? If so, which consumer surplus is more fully extracted?
8. It is popular for some mainland companies to use a bonus scheme to pay their workers nowadays. Workers will be paid the bonus at the year end if the company is making money. Does it imply a higher or lower unemployment rate? Does paying the workers in piece rate interfere with the bonus system? Does the minimum wage law interfere with the system?
9. Ladies from China are coming to Hong Kong to buy the authentic brand name handbags, while ladies in Hong Kong are going to the mainland to buy the fake ones. The authentic handbags have slightly higher durability than the fake ones, and the two look very alike, but the authentic ones are like 50 times more expensive than the fake ones. Does it mean that the ladies from China are richer than the Hong Kong ladies? Can the ladies from China see the authentic handbags from the fake ones? Why are they willing to pay such high a price for just a slightly more durable handbag? |
