Philippe Mexes’ agent has dismissed links with Milan, but has confirmed that Liverpool are interested in the Roma stopper.
The Rossoneri have been heavily associated with the Frenchman recently as they look to rejuvenate their ageing defence, especially in the central area.
However, Olivier Jouanneaux has today revealed that he’s not been in touch with the San Siro giants.
“I have no news of any contact from Milan for my client,” Jouanneaux told the Guerin Sportivo magazine.
“There are a number of English teams who are interested in Philippe though with Liverpool at the front of the queue.”
Mexes joined the capital club from Auxerre in controversial circumstances during the summer of 2004.
And although the Giallorossi were subsequently handed a one-year transfer ban following his swoop, Mexes has paid them back for that sacrifice with some awesome displays this term.
That has inevitably made him an attractive proposition on the transfer market yet again even if his future does still seem to be in Rome.
“I am hopeful that I will be called to discuss a contract extension seeing as his present deal expires in 2008,” concluded his representative. |
