The PFA have announced their short-list for the coveted Players' Player of the Year award for 2006.

Chief executive Gordon Taylor has given his own thoughts on the six nominees - Chelsea trio Joe Cole, John Terry and Frank Lampard, Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard, Arsenal ace Thierry Henry and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.

The annual awards dinner is little more than a week away and the Young Player award also has six candidates

PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor has given his verdicts on the sextet in the frame - Charlton Athletic's top scorer Darren Bent, Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas, West Ham defender Anton Ferdinand, Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon, and Manchester United duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney.
