Empoli have admitted that star striker Francesco Tavano will be sold at the end of the present campaign.
The Fiorentina youth team product has had an impressive term at the Carlo Castellani having scored 17 goals in Serie A so far.
That has inevitably seen his name linked with bigger clubs and the Tuscan outfit have today confirmed that his departure is more than likely.
“We won’t be discussing his future until we have assured our top-flight status, but it is clear that players like Tavano will be sold,” director general Giuseppe Vitale told Radio Radio.
“Tavano is a mature footballer and I think he deserves a bigger stage on which to show people his talents.”
Ciccio-gol has been associated in some quarters with a possible switch to Lazio, but Vitale has rubbished such reports.
“I really don’t think that he could join Lazio,” the Tuscan official bluntly stated.
Tavano, likened by many in the game to Siena’s veteran striker Enrico Chiesa, is believed to be a transfer target for Fiorentina, Real Madrid and Inter.
Vitale added that Empoli are also set to sell Antonio Busce and Sergio Almiron who have been attracting interest too this term. |
