There are reports that Inter will bring Sebastien Frey back to the San Siro, opening the door for Fiorentina to sign veteran Fabien Barthez.
Frey has been out for much of the season after sustaining a serious knee injury against Juventus, but his future is up in the air.
The 26-year-old Frenchman has been linked to a host of top European clubs, including Arsenal and Manchester United, and his contract is still owned by Parma.
Now Inter are hoping to bring him back to the side where he started his Serie A career in 1998-99 before moving on to Verona, Parma and Fiorentina, as both Francesco Toldo and Julio Cesar have failed to fully convince.
In turn, the Viola have not been too impressed with January signing Bogdan Lobont, who made the switch from Ajax mid-season as cover for the injured Frey.
It’s reported in French newspaper ‘L’Equipe’ that the Artemio Franchi outfit is keeping a close eye on 1998 World Cup winner Barthez.
The ex-Manchester United shot-stopper’s contract with Marseille is up in the summer, although he also has an offer from West Ham. Barthez will turn 35 in June and has also played for Tolouse and Monaco. |
