Livorno striker Cristiano Lucarelli has today emerged as a summer transfer target for Inter, according to reports.
The Nerazzurri are believed to be planning a ‘Made in Italy’ transfer policy and the former Torino forward fits the bill.
Stories in the peninsula on Tuesday claim that Inter market chief Marco Branca has actually been in talks with Lucarelli’s agent for the last three months.
Although Lucarelli has close ties with his current club and famously turned down a mega contract at Torino to stay at his hometown outfit, a move away may be on the cards.
Lucarelli, who himself allegedly met with Branca on February 18, is liked by the San Siro outfit after his goalscoring exploits at the Stadio Armando Picchi.
The only stumbling block for the player would be the Amaranto’s asking price for the Italian international.
Although born in 1975, Lucarelli’s 24 goals last term and the 16 he has so far this season would see the Tuscan outfit demand a pretty hefty price for an offensive player of his age.
Inter, who were yesterday linked with Fiorentina hotshot Luca Toni, are assessing their striking options for next season as Adriano may quit the club.
There are also reports on Tuesday which claim that the Nerazzurri will sell Obafemi Martins to the Premiership.
Tottenham, who still haven’t agreed a deal with Roma to keep Mido once his loan expires, are apparently ready to make a bid of around £8m for the Nigerian.
