Papin takes Stasbourg job
Jean-Pierre Papin is returning to football, as he has been persuaded to take charge of Strasbourg.
The 1991 Ballon d'Or winner has accepted a two-year contract and is looking forward to the challenge of helping relegated Strasbourg bounce back.
"It is a unique opportunity for me, an improvement in my career, and a real challenge," he said after accepting the contract. "My mission will be to get back to Ligue 1 immediately.
"Now it is up to me to prove Strasbourg was right to hire me. I want to thank chairman Philippe Ginestet, because he has been the first to dare. He won't regret it."
Papin has revealed that it took him little time to accept the proposal from the club and he will succeed Jacky Dugueperoux.
"The first contacts happened on Wednesday; I made my decision in 48 hours," he added.
