Roberto Mancini admits this could be his last game in charge of Inter, as he waits to hear his fate from the club.
“You keep asking me about my future, but I haven’t the foggiest how to answer,” said the Coach in today’s Press conference.
“I don’t know what to expect, so you’d have to ask patron Massimo Moratti. There are only two days left in the season, so we must all have a little more patience before all will be revealed.”
Mancini has won the Italian Super Cup and two editions of the Coppa Italia since taking charge of the Nerazzurri, but there are incessant reports of a deal with Juventus tactician Fabio Capello to replace him next term.
“I have a year left on my contract, but clearly in these situations that doesn’t count for much. I wouldn’t be surprised by anything now, especially as when you read such precise figures bandied about in the newspapers, it means there’s some truth at the centre of it.”
The former Fiorentina and Lazio boss seems to have accepted this experience has come to an end and his statements spelled out a farewell.
“Am I irritated there is so much talk of Capello? If I am to leave, then Inter will look to whoever they think is the right man for the job and that has nothing to do with me. I just hope, in case I do go, that I leave behind a positive memory of my time at Inter.”
However, Mancio remains the proud figure who often rallied against the system during his career, both as a player and a Coach, so he turned his attention towards the growing match-fixing allegations surrounding the sport.
“Everyone made fun of us. We have to wait and see what happens, but nobody expected the situation to be so very serious. There are 40 million football fans in Italy and we’ve all been taken for a ride for years. In the light of all this, the Coppa Italia we won is to be treasured. I won’t discuss our Serie A performance, as right now I don’t consider the Championship to be a regular one.”
Whatever the result of their meeting with Cagliari at the Stadio Sant’Elia on Sunday, Inter will finish third in the League table.

SEVEN PRIMAVERA PLAYERS WITH FIRST TEAM

MILAN - Besides Marco Andreolli, who has been with the first team since the start of the season, the following seven Primavera players have been called up to Roberto Mancini's squad for the final outing of the Serie A season at Cagliari.
Giacomo Bindi: goalkeeper, born in 1987
Leonardo Bonucci: defender, 1987
Nicolas Giani: defender 1986
Ilario Aloe: midfielder, 1986
Daniel Maa Boumsong: midfielder, 1987
Tjani Belaid: midfielder, 1987
Domenico Germinale: striker, 1987
With the exception of Ilario Aloe, all the above named players took part in last summer's pre-season training and the first team's tour of England, and played in the pre-season friendly matches.
Maa Boumsong and Belaid have already made their Serie A debuts for Inter. The Cameroonian midifelder was handed his first top-flight start in last Sunday's home match against Siena while the French-born Tunisian played in the last match of last season at home to Reggina.
Despite his age, goalkeeper Giacomo Bindi has been in pre-season training with the first team for the past three summers.
