Michael Ballack has stated John Terry's desire and determination was a factor in him opting for Chelsea.
The former Bayern Munich star ended speculation surrounding his future on Monday by penning a three-year deal with The Blues.
Ballack clashed with Terry during a UEFA Champions League tie after the Germany captain appeared to go to ground easily at Stamford Bridge to win a penalty.
The 29-year-old now says Terry's reaction and will to win convinced him he should play in The Premiership after plying his entire career in his homeland.
"That (the incident) told me I wanted to play in a team that had him as captain," said Ballack.
"It made my mind up to play in England. He is Chelsea's captain and therefore represents them.
"I have respect for him for that and for him as a world-class player.
"He is a great player and in that respect we are quite similar. We are both fighters."
