Italian striker Christian Vieri is pondering a move to Australia, reports are insisting on Tuesday.
Sydney FC are keen on acquiring the Italian as a replacement for former Manchester United forward Dwight Yorke.
Vieri, who actually grew up in Sydney during his childhood, is reportedly seriously assessing the switch.
According to ‘The Australian’ newspaper, the club are prepared to offer Monaco around £1m for the veteran.
However, it remains uncertain at this point how they will be able to finance the £4m a season which he currently nets.
Vieri was expected to remain in the Principality despite his injury plagued campaign since joining the outfit in January.
The 32-year-old, who spent an unhappy six months at Milan at the start of this season, wasn’t included in Marcello Lippi’s World Cup squad yesterday.
He underwent knee surgery last week and will be out of action for the next month, thus ruling him out of World Cup contention. |
