The proposed Grizzlies-Rockets trade first reported by ESPN.com's Andy Katz that would send Shane Battier to Houston for the rights to the No. 8 pick in tonight's draft (Rudy Gay) can't be completed until the trade moratorium ends in mid-July.
Battier is a base year compensation player and needs his salary to reset July 1.
The San Antonio Spurs announced today that they have traded the draft rights of Damir Markota to the Milwaukee Bucks for the better of Milwaukee's two second round picks in the 2007 NBA Draft. Milwaukee currently holds their own second round pick as well as the Houston Rockets second round pick in 2007.
"Balkman is a very unique talent, a very unique player," Thomas said. "He reminds me a lot of a Dennis Rodman/Ron Artest-type player with his energy and defensive abilities."
