Brazilian striker Savio has struck a deal with Flamengo and will join the club when his contract with Real Zaragoza ends later this summer.
The diminutive forward informed Zaragoza in April that he would not be extending his contract.
Savio signalled his intention to return to his native land and he has now signed a deal with the club he left almost a decade ago.
It would appear that Savio had been hankering after a return to Flamengo as he has expressed delight at striking a deal with his former club.
"I had been dreaming about coming back to Flamengo," said Savio. "I am very happy and my family is also very happy so I expect to repay the love from the supporters with goals."
Savio left Flamengo for Real Madrid in 1997 and stayed in the Spanish capital until 2002. He moved on to Bordeaux and then Zaragoza, but his career has gone full circle after he signed a deal which runs until next summer.
