Viola turn on 'Interista' Toni Thursday 15 June, 2006

With Inter continuing to suggest Luca Toni wants to join them, Fiorentina fans are venting their fury at the £17m target.
This week Nerazzurri director Marco Branca told newspapers that Toni “clearly wants to move to a club where he’ll have a better chance of winning some silverware” and insisted Fiorentina had set a price-tag, so he was not out of bounds for interested parties.
The Italian media has analysed the situation and there are reports that the figure it’ll take to prise the Capocannoniere away from Florence is in the region of £17m – more than double the £7m they paid to Palermo for the striker a year ago.
His valuation has shot up this season thanks to his club record 31 Serie A goals and strong performances for Italy at the World Cup.
It’s believed that Inter’s initial offer was of £10m, but that they are willing to raise that to £12.5m at the next round of negotiations, plus Real Majorca defender Alessandro Potenza and an agreement to step aside and allow Fiorentina free reign in the race for Parma’s Daniele Bonera.
“Toni is a great player, but he belongs to Fiorentina and I don’t think it’ll be easy to bring him here. In fact, it’ll be very difficult,” noted Nerazzurri Coach Roberto Mancini. “As for Adriano, I think he’ll stay at Inter.”
The idea that Toni is unhappy at the Stadio Franchi and wants to move on has infuriated the fans in Tuscany.
Local newspapers pointed out graffiti appearing on the stadium walls telling him to ‘get out of the way’ and to ‘follow your heart’.
