Harry Kewell could miss Australia's final World Cup group game against Croatia on Thursday after being charged by FIFA following a dispute with the referee after his countries 2-0 defeat by Brazil.
German referee Markus Merk has alleged that the 27-year-old Liverpool winger insulted him several times after the final whistle after Sunday's match.
FIFA spokesman Markus Siegler confirmed that the case was being dealt with by the disciplinary body who have the ultimate decision when it comes to deciding on the length of suspensions at the World Cup.
