Four-game ban for De Rossi
Daniele De Rossi could miss the rest of the World Cup after being banned for four matches for elbowing Brian McBride.
The Italy midfielder was sent off during the first half of last Saturday's 1-1 draw with USA, following a clash with McBride.
De Rossi elbowed McBride in the face, leaving the veteran striker bleeding from a cut which required stitches.
Fifa have now meted out a four-match suspension to the Roma ace, which means he will not be available again until the final.
He has already served one game of the ban after sitting out Thursday's 2-0 success over Czech Republic, which took Italy through to the second round.
De Rossi will also miss the last 16 clash with Australia, along with the quarter final and semi-final, should Italy progress that far. |
