Capello quits Juve – official Tuesday 4 July, 2006

Fabio Capello is no longer the Juventus Coach after he resigned on Tuesday, the club have confirmed.

“Juventus Football Club, having taken into account the decisions of Fabio Capello, have accepted his resignation and thank him for his work,” read a statement.

The tactician still had one year left on his Bianconeri contract, but has walked away with Real Madrid set to snap him up for the new campaign.

Capello, expected to be unveiled as Real boss on Thursday, flew into Juve's headquarters earlier today to rescind his contract.

The former Milan and Roma boss arrived at the club in a shock move during the summer of 2004.

He proved to be an instant hit after winning two League titles out of two by actually spending an incredible 76 weeks out of 76 at the top of the League.

Capello’s future has been cast in doubt ever since the Old Lady were embroiled in the Calciopoli scandal.

That saw the infamous Triade of Roberto Bettega, Luciano Moggi and Antonio Giraudo – Capello’s great allies – all resign from the board.

Juve are now set to appoint either Didier Deschamps, a former midfielder with the club, or Alberto Zaccheroni as new Coach.

in my opinion, loyalty is rubbish. figo once explained his transfer to madrid that professional footballers need to earn $$$ to make a life. fans seldom think from their point of view. after second thought, they are there to provide service not for free. you see the latest case in shevahenko. i'm perfectly with sheva especially when you take into account that ukarina, a country in the far east, is quite poor economically compared to the west. loyalty can't make a life. (the same, fans' loyalty to football clubs is rubbish too. but this is irrelevant here.)

Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo has again failed to rule out a move to Real Madrid.

The winger's club future is unclear with growing speculation he is set to leave Old Trafford for the Spanish giants after the World Cup.


Ronaldo, who cost United ?12.8million from Sporting Lisbon, was asked questions on the subject after Portugal's World Cup victory over England and did nothing to quash the rumours.

Asked by the Spanish press if he was destined for Real, Ronaldo smiled and said: "We will see after the World Cup."

The Spanish reporter said: "You talk like it's a done deal."

Ronaldo continued to smile before he said: "No, we have to sign it first. I will talk to you after the World Cup."

In another exchange with the English press, the United winger, was asked why he wanted to leave Old Trafford.

Ronaldo said: "I don't want to leave. I never said this. I said I like Real Madrid. I don't say I want to leave Manchester United."

He was then asked: "So you don't want to leave Manchester United?" but Ronaldo replied: "I don't know, maybe."
