fr:nottinghamforest.co.uk--Paul Smith believes joining Nottingham Forest will help him progress his career.
The 26 year old goalkeeper became Colin Calderwood's first Forest signing today when he checked-in at The City Ground from Southampton.
The Reds have paid an undisclosed fee for Smith, who has signed a three-year contract.
And the new boy told www.nottinghamforest: "I've no doubts that this move will help me progress my career.
"I really enjoyed my two and a half years at Southampton - playing in the Premiership was a fantastic experience - but I want to take my career on to the next phase.
"For me that's playing first team football on a regular basis and that's hopefully what I'll get at Forest."
Smith signed on the dotted line this afternoon after meeting manager Colin Calderwood for the first time last night.
He added: "I've heard a lot about Colin Calderwood and the goalkeeping coach Dave Watson and was very impressed by what they had to say when I met them.
"Dave has got a big reputation and I'm convinced he can help me become a better goalkeeper."
