Dwight Yorke believes with time Sunderland can break into the top six in the Premiership.
The Black Cats have made a swift return to England's top-flight after winning the Championship title at the first time of asking.
Yorke thinks with Sunderland's fan base and facilities they have the foundation to become one of England's biggest clubs.
However, the experienced striker-cum-midfielder acknowledges it may take time and that it is important the players do not rest on their laurels.
"The sky is the limit," he told the Daily Express. "The fan base, the size of the ground and the training facilities suggest this should be a top-six club.
"It might take some time, but we have a fantastic gaffer and a great board. The rest is up to the players.
"We have to deliver every week in the toughest league in the world. We cannot sit back for a minute.
"It has been a magnificent first season for the gaffer and expectations are high. But we have a lot of building to do."
