Luiz Felipe Scolari has extened his contract with Portugal after guiding them to the World Cup semi-finals.
The Brazilian, recently on England's wish-list, has signed a new two-year contract with the Portuguese that will see him in charge of the national team until after Euro 2008.
The Portuguese Football Federation announced the Brazilian's decision to stay on its website, on the same day that it was revealed in Brazil that Scolari had been invited to return to South America to coach the Selecao again.
Scolari had led Brazil to World Cup glory in 2002 before moving Portugal the following year.
He took Portugal to the final of Euro 2004 on home soil, but they lost to Greece.
Defeat by France in th recent World Cup semi-final was Portugal's first loss in 18 games, while he himself had set a new record for a coach of 11 straight wins in World Cup matches.
Portugal's qualifying campaign for Euro 2008 starts with a game against Finland on September 6. |
