Hurtado For Wigan?

Reports from Quito suggest that English Premiership side Wigan Athletic are
in talks to sign Ecuador's experienced central defender Ivan Hurtado, who
impressed during the recent World Cup.
Wigan manager Paul Jewell is understood to be looking for a new centre half
and is thought to be pursuing an interest in Hurtado that was stimulated
while wathing the player in Germany for his country.

Hurtado helped Ecuador reach the second round and also earned plaudits for
his performance in the defeat by England.

Although Recreativo de Huelva, newly promoted to Spain's Primera Liga, are
also thought to be chasing Hurtado, Jewell is confident of luring him to The
JJB Stadium.

He currently plays for Al Arabi in Qatar and it is thought that the
much-travelled Hurtado would relish the opportunity to add a stint in
England with Wigan to his CV.
