Casiraghi Named Coach of Italy Under-21
The former Italian striker replaces Claudio Gentile at the lead of the Azzurrini.
Surprisingly enough, the new coach of the Italian Under-21 national team is Pierluigi Casiraghi. The appointment comes in as a surprise considering the different names that were circulating in the past days.
Casiraghi will be assisted by Gianfranco Zola, to continue the line of former Italian international players at the helm of the Azzurrini.
The departing Gentile won two of the past three European Championships of the Under 21, and arrived up till the semi-finals of the Olympics 2 years ago.
