Inter completed Vieira's signing for 6.5M pounds

Internazionale have completed the signing of France international Patrick Vieira from disgraced rivals Juventus.
The former Arsenal star had been seeking an exit from the Bianconeri after their relegation to Serie B following a high-profile match-fixing trial, and has switched to Inter for just €9.5 million (£6.5 million) having already played for city rivals Milan earlier in his career.
Manchester United and Barcelona had both been linked with a move for the complete midfielder, but he will now work under Roberto Mancini with the newly-crowned Serie A champions next season after signing a four-year deal.
Vieira only played for Juventus for one season after ending his nine-year stay at Highbury, having his league winner's medal taken away as a result of the match-fixing trial, and his Stadio Delle Alpi exit represents a substantial loss for the club who shelled out €20 million (£13.7 million) for his services 12 months ago.
The exit of the midfield star is the latest blow for the Turin outfit who have seen Lilian Thuram, Gianluca Zambrotta, Emerson and Fabio Cannavaro leave in a damaging exodus.
However, Bianconeri boss Didier Deschamps will now be hoping Vieira's departure marks the end of the summer sales at Stadio Delle Alpi. |
