Doctors have delivered an upbeat bulletin on the condition of former England boss Sir Bobby Robson.

The 73-year-old was taken to hospital on Saturday after complaining of feeling unwell at the Ipswich Town v Crystal Palace game.

Prior to the game at Portman Road, Robson had been paraded to fans as the club's new honorary president.

But just 10 minutes into Town's 2-1 defeat, the septuagenarian was driven to Ipswich Hospital after feeling off-colour.

Some reports suggested the ex-Newcastle United and Ipswich boss had suffered a stroke, but that does not appear to be the case.

Robson has undergone tests and the hospital confirmed he will soon be allowed to leave and return home.

"I am pleased to tell you that Sir Bobby Robson is feeling very well this morning," Robson's consultant Dr Gerry Rayman told Sky Sports News.

"He had a good night's sleep and a good breakfast.

"Once we have completed our investigations, we will be letting him go home."

Town president Sir Bobby Robson has been released from hospital after being taken ill during Blues' Championship game against Crystal Palace.

The former Town boss left Portman Road just 10 minutes into Saturday's match and was taken to Ipswich Hospital for tests, where he remained over the weekend.

But a spokeswoman confirmed from the hospital this morning that Sir Bobby was returning home.
