Scott Carson has joined Charlton until the end of the season, meaning Liverpool have two England squad goalkeepers on loan at other Premiership clubs.
The 20-year-old Carson, who was in England's World Cup squad this summer, is expected to compete for a first-team place at The Valley, while Chris Kirkland is at Wigan.
Carson is currently in the England Under-21 squad for Tuesday's clash against Moldova, while Kirkland is in the senior squad for their friendly with Greece on Wednesday.
Boss Rafael Benitez arrived at Anfield in 2004 and signed Jose Reina a year later, with Jerzy Dudek becoming his second-choice goalkeeper.
Benitez also completed the signing of highly-rated David Martin from MK Dons in January, with the youngster now set to offer cover for Reina and Dudek.
