Martins reveals Newcastle ‘move’ Monday 21 August, 2006

Inter’s Obafemi Martins is close to signing for Newcastle United. "Eighty per cent of the deal with Newcastle is completed,” he said.

The Nigerian has been hotly linked with the Premiership side following the arrivals of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, plus Hernan Crespo, and today confirmed that a transfer is on the horizon.

"I'm close to moving to Newcastle, despite all the initial delays," the 21-year-old confirmed to BBC Sport.

"I have long since wished to play in the Premiership and I am pleased with the prospect of concluding the deal in the next couple of days.”

The former Nerazzurri youth team product has been paired with numerous clubs, but his agent Patrick Bastianelli is understood to have held Toon talks over the weekend.

Reports suggest that Inter and Newcastle have agreed on a £10.9m fee following boss Glenn Roeder’s specific request to have Martins at his disposal.

國際米蘭前鋒馬田斯表示即將轉會紐卡素。

「雖然之前一直遇障礙，轉會紐卡素的交易應快將達成。」21歲的尼日利亞國腳周一對英國廣播公司表示。

「交易已完成了80%。」

自國際米蘭簽下瑞典國腳伊巴謙莫域及阿根廷國腳基斯普後，馬田斯即提出轉會要求。其經理人巴斯坦利尼在上周末與紐卡素官員會面商討轉會事宜。

據報今次交易轉會費將達1090萬英鎊。

馬田斯指紐卡素決意將他收購是令他最終決定投效的主因：「在英超作賽一直是我的目標，能夠在未來數天完成交易我很滿意。」

不過，國際米蘭及紐卡素方面都未有評論馬田斯的言論。
