To mark Arsenal’s last season at Highbury before the move to the brand new Emirates Stadium, the club have abandoned their familiar red body and white-sleeved shirt and adopted this stunning commemorative jersey based on the one worn by the club way back in 1913 — their first season at Highbury. Research indicated that the first colour worn at the famous old stadium was in fact a rich dark red, and it is this hue (now officially named ‘redcurrant’) that has been updated into a simple and stylish design for this special kit. Gold embroidered text on the shirt pays tribute to the club’s famous old stadium. The shirt was teasingly revealed gradually during the first half of 2005 to much anticipation.
