Carrick:" 期待倒戈"
Michael Carrick is looking forward to his home debut for United, and says that facing his old team-mates will make the experience even more special.
The £14million summer signing from Tottenham has yet to play for the Reds at Old Trafford, after an injury in the pre-season Amsterdam tournament kept him out of the first home game against Fulham. He made his United league debut as a sub at Charlton and then started the 2-1 away win against Watford.
"When I've played at Old Trafford in the past the atmosphere has always been good," Carrick told Inside United magazine.
"This is one of the biggest clubs in the world and to play in this stadium every week is going to be a great experience."
After sitting out the Fulham game, the fixture list could hardly have brought Michael three bigger games with which to begin his OT career. First up are Spurs, followed by Celtic on Wednesday and Arsenal a week on Sunday.
"It's going to be a good few weeks, especially with a couple of England games in there as well," says Carrick.
"But to face your old team-mates is a great experience - you always want to come out on top. And then Arsenal, which is always such a huge game for this club. I can't wait."
Had the football gods of fate not intervened, Carrick could have been turning up next Sunday in an Arsenal shirt.
"Before I joinedSpurs, there was interest from Arsenal," he explains.
"At that time, Vieira was meant to leave, but it didn't work out. That's the way football works, sometimes it takes you down paths you wouldn't expect. But I wouldn't change anything."
As he looks forward to a debut in the Champions League against Celtic on Wednesday, Carrick reflects on the irony of having failed to qualify for the competition with Spurs on the final day of last season.
"Missing out was a big blow for Tottenham, it was a major disappointment," he says. "Playing Champions League football was a massive factor in coming here. It really is the highest level and I can't wait to be a part of it."
