Reds plan match in Malaysia
Chief executive David Gill said today, "Every two years we undertake a
major pre-season tour and although the actual itinerary is to be worked
out, we'll be in Malaysia next year.
"We have always had a huge following in the region for three main reasons;
history, heritage and achievement. It will be good to have the chance to
visit the region again."
United's visit to Malaysia in 2007, their first since 1995, will come as
the country celebrates 50 years of independence.
"As with all our tours, we will not just turn up, play a game and leave
again," Mr Gill added.
"It will be a genuine attempt to project ourselves to supporters who very
rarely have the opportunity to see us live."
The chief executive was speaking at Carrington, where Tourism Malaysia were
introduced as a new club sponsor, alongside existing partner AirAsia - the
leading low-fare airline for Asia.
He was joined at the press conference by Sir Alex Ferguson, AirAsia chief
executive Dato' Tony Fernandes and Malaysia's Minister of Tourism, YB Datuk
Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor. Paul Scholes and Wayne Rooney also attended
a photo-call.
Sir Alex talked about the growing number of Asian players in Europe and
indicated that United are trying to bring in another Korean to join Ji-sung
Park at Old Trafford.
"The world has changed in terms of where you get players from now and we
are currently looking at a young Korean boy we are hoping to bring over
quite soon," revealed Sir Alex, though he offered no clues to the player's
identity.

在另一個戰場打了一個勝仗。日前，曼聯成功的和馬來西亞旅遊集團簽下了贊助協議，
而後者此前是切爾西的贊助商之一，紅魔從斯坦福橋挖了回牆腳。
在談到改變贊助對像時，馬來西亞旅遊集團的發言人稱：「曼聯在亞洲擁有更多的
球迷，比切爾西多，我們認為這次的贊助協議是明智的，在馬來西亞有曼聯的球迷俱樂
部，選擇他們更有助於我們的推廣。」
曼聯在去年簽下了韓國球星朴智星，加大了在亞洲的影響力，他們還擁有來自中國
的董方卓。與此同時，弗格森還透露，他們正在考察第二名韓國球星。「這個世界已經
變化了，我們正在考察另一個年輕的韓國球星，我們希望近期把他買下來。」不過弗格
森拒絕透露這名球員是誰。
五個月前，曼聯和AIG集團簽下了價值5600萬英鎊的球衣贊助協議，這次又有新的進
帳，這給弗格森增添了底氣。在談到轉會市場時，他表示，曼聯有足夠的錢簽下哈格裡
維斯。「資金就在那兒，這毫無疑問，我們也許將在某個階段再次開始談判。」
「我們考慮過塞納，他是一個備選，但比利亞雷亞爾無法等待，因此我們只有放棄
。我們認為哈格裡維斯是重要的目標，很遺憾我們沒有得到他，但也許在將來，我們還
會嘗試。」
