Siena handed point penalty Thursday 19 October, 2006
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Siena have been handed a one-point deduction by the Lega Calcio Disciplinary Panel for a delay in the payment of social security contributions.
The Tuscan side were indicted by the Federal Prosecution office, and the Commission presided by Claudio Franchini handed out the verdict on Thursday, also handing a three-month ban to the club’s President Paolo De Luca.
Siena failed to present the documentation proving that they had paid the social security contributions owed for their members, contracted employees and freelances before the July deadline.
The club was therefore considered guilty for its direct responsibility in this issue and was handed a one-point penalty, which leaves them with 10 points and drops them back to sixth spot in the Serie A table. |
