馬會折雙翼想搵SWP
Reports in Spain claim that Atletico Madrid are taking an interest in Shaun Wright-Phillips' seemingly ever-worsening plight at Chelsea.
The England wideman has endured a hugely frustrating time at Stamford Bridge since his £21 million switch from Manchester City in the summer of 2005.
He has made a total of 32 appearances for The Blues, with the majority of those coming from the bench, and now appears further from a regular starting berth than ever.
His lack of action last term effectively scuppered his hopes of making England's World Cup squad and memories of his swashbuckling displays for City are now something of a fading memory.
Atletico first cast their eye over the 24-year-old towards the end of last season but were informed by the Londoners that the player was not available.
However, with attacking midfielders Maxi Rodriguez and Martin Petrov both having sustained long-term knee injuries this month, they are believed to have rekindled their interest with a view to the January transfer window.
With Chelsea still unwilling to part with the player on a permanent basis, they are being tipped to propose a loan deal that would see Wright-Phillips head to Madrid for the second half of the season.
A factor in the deal could be the chance for the Premiership champions to try and secure some kind of option on Fernando Torres who was once again linked with a move to England, and more particularly Stamford Bridge, last weekend.
The striker recently signed a new deal at Atletico which saw his release clause substantially reduced and could well be up for grabs next summer.
By off-loading Wright-Phillips to Atletico, Chelsea could potentially strengthen their hand with regards to Torres, although it is still unclear whether they are willing to let the former Man City flyer leave or whether the player himself would consent to a switch away from English football.
