UEFA has unveiled the new visual identity created for the 2007 UEFA Cup final in Glasgow at a special ceremony in the Scottish city.
Hampden date
The event design to be used around the final, to be played at Glasgow's Hampden Park on 16 May next year, was revealed in the presence of senior representatives of the City of Glasgow, UEFA and the Scottish Football Association, as well as one of the official event ambassadors for the final, Billy McNeill, the defender who led Celtic FC to their famous triumph against FC Internazionale Milano in the 1967 European Champion Clubs' Cup final in Lisbon.
Distinctive flavour
The final of the UEFA Cup has, in recent years, been given a personality of its own via a complete design concept developed especially for the event. The initial idea that inspired the creation of a new identity for each final was to develop a specific design with a distinctive flavour of the host city.
Promotion help
The objective is to help promote the final and enhance the prestige of one of the Europe's biggest sporting occasions. In addition, a key benefit of the visual identity is that it can also be extensively used by UEFA's many partners, such as broadcasters, sponsors and licensees.
