Argentina defender Roberto Ayala is being linked with a surprise move to Tottenham after his agent admitted receiving offers from England.
The Valencia centre back further enhanced his reputation as one of the game's classiest defenders with consistent showings in the World Cup finals and it was his header that opened the scoring against Germany in the quarter finals.
After rejecting a new deal at La Mestalla, the South American stopper will be a free agent next year and Radio Valencia-Ser claim Spurs would be willing to sign him as a free agent in January, 2007, on a three-year-contract which would represent significant forward planning from the North Londoners.
"We have received offers to go to England next season," commented agent Gustavo Mascardi recently. "The decision is clear - next year he will leave the team."
Even though Ayala will be 34 next summer, he has displayed the sort of rugged qualities that would ensure success in The Premiership.

Belgium born Moroccan Ibrahim Maroufi will represent Inter next season after he decided to put pen to paper on a contract with the Italian giants.
Ibrahim decided to end his stay with PSV Eindhoven despite being considered as one of the brightest talents.

MILAN - Inter continues to invest in the players of tomorrow with the signings of three young talents.
Luca Siligardi (pictured, born in 1988), joins Inter on a permanent contract from Eccellenza category team Dorando Petri. A left-sided midfielder, Siligardi impressed for the Dorando Petri first team and the Dilettanti category national team after a spell with the Parma youth academy.
Striker Sebastiàn Ribas (born in 1988) joins Inter from Uruguayan outfit Club Atletico Juventud de Las Piedras. A prolific scorer at this year's Carnival Cup in Viareggio, Ribas hit the winner in Juventud's 1-0 victory over Juventus in the final. Ribas possesses an EU passport and has signed a contract which expires on 30 June 2010.
Midfielder Maaroufi Ibrahim (born in 1989) joins Inter from the PSV Eindhoven academy. Ibrahim is of Moroccan origin and holds a Belgian passport, and has signed a contract until 30 June 2009.

MILAN - After returning to Inter following a loan stint at Mallorca, Alessandro Potenza has completed a permanent transfer to Fiorentina. The 22-year-old defender made one appearance for the Inter first team in a Coppa Italia match against Bari in 2002/03.
