LAUTOKA- New Zealand and Solomon Islands finished Match Day 3 with eyes firmlyfixed on Beijing 2008 after winning their third consecutive matches atthe OFC Men’s Olympic Football Tournament in Fiji.
Solomon Islands 5-0 win over Vanuatu puts the Solympics team in a handy position thanks to its impressive goal difference.
Alick Maemae’s brace and goals fromJoses Nawo and Benjamin Totori (also a brace) mean Solomon Islands havemaximum points from three matches and a goal difference of plustwenty-one.
Solomon Islands - known as theSolympic team - now has New Zealand in its sights as both teams preparefor what amounts to a knock-out situation.
New Zealand's "Oly-Whites" will have to be on its best form from the start after it madea lethargic start against Papua New Guinea and were duly punished whenRaymond Gunemba gave his country a shock early lead.
But goals from Daniel Ellensohn (2)and Costa Barbarouses (2) and Jeremy Brockie hauled New Zealand backinto a comfortable position until Gunemba added a late second for PapuaNew Guinea.
Fiji scored a 9-0 win over CookIslands thanks to hat-tricks from Alvin Singh and Malakai Tiwa withShameel Rao, Roy Krishna and Krishna Samy completing the scoring.
The match will be remembered formore than its goals after four players were red carded – two from eachteam – including influential Fiji pair Avinesh Suwamy and OseaVakatalesau. Cook Islands pair John Bataillard and Gichin Huiniu werealso sent off by referee Andrew Moli.
The next matches at the OFC OlympicFootball Tournament will be pivotal with the big game between NewZealand and Solomon Islands.

NZ under 23 soccer side earn ticket to Beijing
The New Zealand under 23 soccer side has earned a spot atthe Beijing Olympics after winning the Oceania men's Olympic Footballtournament in Fiji.
In its final game New Zealand crushed the Cook Islands eight nil on Sunday afternoon.
The New Zealand women's team also won the right to represent Oceaniaat Beijing on Saturday after beating Papua New Guinea 2-nil in PortMoresby.

USA win Group A & semifinal place at CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualification
16.3.08 - USA finished in first-place in Group A and earned a place in the semifinals of the 2008 CONCACAF Men's Olympic Qualification after defeating Honduras by a score of 1:0 at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on Saturday.
After Charlie Davies missed a penalty in the 62nd minute, the USA still managed to notch the game-winner in the last minute when Eddie Gaven scored from the 12-yard spot.

The CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualification continues on Sunday with last Group B encounters at The Home Depot Center in Carson, California as Guatemala, who already advanced to the semifinals, faces Canada and then Mexico take on Haiti.
The semifinals and finals of the CONCACAF Tournament will take place at LP Field in Nashville on 20 and 23 March, respectively. The CONCACAF U-23 Champion and Runner-up will qualify to the Olympic Football Tournament Beijing 2008.

After a scoreless 90 minutes of play, Georgie Wilson Welcome scored the game-winner for the Catrachos 13 minutes into the first extra time period. With both finalists already qualified as the Confederation's representatives to the Olympic Football Tournament Beijing 2008, the CONCACAF U-23 crown is the second for Honduras with their first one coming in 2000. This will also be Honduras second appearance at the Summer Games in 2008. Meanwhile, the USA who have progressed to 13 Men’s Football Tournaments at the Olympic Games, have only finished first in one CONCACAF Pre-Olympic Qualifier (in 1992). In an earlier encounter at LP Field, Canada took the third-place honors after defeating Guatemala 5:3 on penalty kicks. After a 0:0 scoreline at the end of regulation, the encounter went straight to penalties. 「首先埃米爾和小馬丁在國家隊一左一右擔任邊鋒，都是絕對主力，他們還不是那種進進出出國家隊的邊緣國腳。他們入選本來就毫無懸念，埃米爾還將擔任國奧隊隊長。青島的布朗，在國家隊不是絕對主力，實力肯定遜於蘇亞索。但是，洪都拉斯人有他們自己考慮。既然奧運會在北京舉行，超齡球員名額全部留給效力中超的海外球員，這樣他們或許能夠享受一點『東道主』待遇。這樣也可以加強洪都拉斯足球對中國的影響力。」張德發認為這是洪都拉斯人在足球上有他們的眼光和經驗。
當然年齡也是布朗入選的一個優勢，「不管是以前申花的馬丁內斯、廣州的拉米雷斯還是長春亞泰的埃爾維斯，他們都已經因為年齡逐漸退出了國家隊，據我所知，這次洪都拉斯國奧隊把布朗招入球隊，也是為了將來國家隊培養接班人。」這三名超齡球員，布朗27歲，蘇亞索則已經29歲。
有意思的是，三名洪都拉斯准國奧隊超齡隊員的中方經紀人都是張德發。「洪都拉斯國家隊也有一些在歐洲效力的球星，但是這三名球員在洪都拉斯也絕對是有相當實力的，甚至有幾位在國家隊中的位置無人替代。」張德發認為中超能夠吸引這樣高水平的外援，也是這麼多年其苦心經營的結果。
2003年非典時期，馬丁內斯有次發燒，鬧著一定要去醫院檢查，張德發只好親自帶他去醫院。這次申花幾名外援都是他的球員，張德發為他們選了自己小區的房子住下，「這樣方便照顧，更方便監督。」張德發正是憑藉這些，在中北美和南美地區特別是洪都拉斯做出了口碑。
洪都拉斯第一豪門馬拉松俱樂部的高層與張德發的關係很深。據說前不久青島退走的外援，按照國際足聯的規定青島方面要付違約費，但是在張德發的斡旋下，洪都拉斯方面把青島已經支付的轉會費全額退回，如此爽氣，這在國際轉會中也的確不多見。「做經紀人生意的，就要靠口碑，大家生意做得越多，越信任。」張德發認為，這三名中超球員入選洪都拉斯國奧隊其實也是情理之中的事，「從大馬丁內斯開始，來中超的洪都拉斯球員幾乎都是高水準的，他們已經在中國聯賽創造了品牌效應。」

Nigeria book Beijing berth
A 3-0 win for Nigeria over South Africa in Abuja has given the so-called "Dream Team" the final African slot at the 2008 Olympic Games.
Goals from Taye Taiwo and debutant Victor Anichebe, plus a South African own goal, gave Nigeria victory.
The result means they top the group by a point from Ghana, who were not playing.
Ivory Coast and Cameroon are the other African teams to have secured places at the Olympics.
Anichebe came on as a second-half substitute, making a long-awaited first appearance in a Nigerian shirt.

按照国际足联分布的抽签原则，在男足方面，中国队做为东道主已被确定为C组，签位为C1，小组赛头两场比赛城市确定为沈阳。另外三支种子队也已经确定，分别是阿根廷队、荷兰队和喀麦隆队。阿根廷队做为奥运会卫冕冠军确定为A组，小组赛头两场比赛城市为上海。欧洲区冠军荷兰队确定为B组，小组赛头两场比赛城市为天津。而非洲区冠军喀麦隆队被确定为D组，小组赛头两场比赛城市为秦皇岛。
参加北京奥运会男足比赛的队伍共有16支。它们是：东道主中国队， 欧洲的荷兰、塞尔维亚、比利时和意大利队，南美的巴西和阿根廷队，非洲的科特迪瓦、喀麦隆和尼日利亚队，亚洲区的澳大利亚、韩国和日本队，大洋洲的新西兰队，北中美洲和加勒比地区的美国和洪都拉斯队。
此外，根据地域划分为四个区域，1为亚洲球队，2为非洲及大洋洲球队，3为欧洲球队，4为中北美及南美球队。根据同区域不同组的原则，亚洲球队不能与中国队同在C组，而只能抽到A组、B组和D组；非洲及大洋洲球队不能与喀麦隆队同在D组，而只能抽到A组、B组和C组；欧洲球队不能与荷兰队同在B组，而只能抽到A组、C组和D组；中北美及南美球队不同同阿根廷队同在A组，而只能抽到B组、C组和D组。
