Chris Kirkland will train with West Bromwich Albion before sealing his loan move from Liverpool.
The 24-year-old has just recovered from a back injury and The Baggies are taking the chance to assess the former Coventry star before finally sealing his move.
Kirkland has turned down the chance to join Celtic in order to seal a move to West Brom.
Should all go according to plan, then Kirkland will seal a season-long loan deal later next month.
"I'm trying to get good competition for places all the way through the squad," said Baggies boss Bryan Robson.
"Chris Kirkland is a top quality keeper who forced his way into the England squad and was then just a bit unlucky with injuries.
"The medical staff we've spoken to are confident Chris shouldn't have any ongoing problems after the operation he had on his back.
"And hopefully he can stay away from injuries and get back to the form that got him his reputation."
Kirkland begins training with West Brom on Friday when the squad returns to begin their pre-season campaign. |
