What a weird game... and we can somehow be more than happy with the draw.
I don't get why Rijkaard insists with a 3-4-3, which is quite suicidal sometimes. We can use this system, if we need to overcome a result as it happened against Zaragoza or Liverpool. But I think it's beyond ridiculous to play like this when the players aren't obviously prepared for that. Only Puyol is fast enough to play like this, Oleguer and Thuram are damn slow and they're not smart as Koeman was in his times. Oleguer and Thuram were beyond awful today. Márquez was quite lost too. Guti gave him a historical lesson, to be honest. Xavi and Deco were horrible, especially Deco. Iniesta was extraordinary though, this guy is a star. Eto'o and Messi were perfect and Ronaldinho can go to hell once more.
Despite all this, we had our chances in the first half, we clearly dominated the game when we were 11 vs 11. Iniesta, Messi and Eto'o were making the differences, there was no way they could stop us in attack. But the 3 defenders system doesn't give us balance enough. Oleguer did the worst game of his life and he was an idiot to do such a tackle in his yellow card. I think that his first yellow card was very harsh. I think that Guti does everything to fall, although it's true that Oleguer kicks his leg. In any case, that's not a yellow card. It can't be a yellow card. The referee was extremely harsh with our players. Diarra, Ramos and Salgado should have been sent off, if the ref had used the same level when it comes to show yellow cards.
Anyway, the first goal is a huge mistake of Oleguer, losing his position, and Thuram giving the ball to the center, something that a veteran player like him knows that he shouldn't do anything like that. Oleguer again to blame for the 2nd goal too. But in attack, we were making the differences, Eto'o was making Salgado look like a fool. This Torres is going to ask to go back to Castilla, because Messi gave him a night that he will never forget. Even Ronaldinho showed very very few pieces of something. All of them, driven by a huge Iniesta.
But the red card changed everything. Rijkaard needed 20 FCUKING MINUTES to realize that our defense lacked someone in the right back. I don't know how Real Madrid didn't score 5 goals in that moment. And then, when Rijkaard finally sees that we needed someone there, we got Ramos goal in a set piece.
In any case, the change was good, because the team found balance. When they lost Guti, they lost the ball. Iniesta began to drive the game again, Guddy gave a lot of oxygen to the attacking line while he also helped the midfield, something that Ronaldinho didnd't do in the whole fúcking game. Still, Ronnie managed to give that great pass to Messi to save our asses when... honestly... I thought that we were going to lose.
And... well, the same story of always. A penalty on Ronaldinho, as big as a cathedral, but the fúcking ref, who was horrible tonight, always in favour of Real Madrid, didn't want to mark the penalty. Another robbery to add to the long line.
We saved one point that finally tastes like a victory, but we can finish the week 3 points far from Sevilla, and we didn't kill Madrid. Now we have to wake up. Messi and Eto'o are growing fast and they can make the differences in the last games, but it's time to react. NOW.
Ratings:
-Valdés - 8. Not to blame in the goals and he saved us several times during the game. He looked a bit nervous in some moments, but in the key times, he was there.
-Oleguer - 2. The worst game of his life. AWFUL.
-Thuram - 4. Very bad in the first half. Always unsafe. Dribbling in defense when he was the last man. He saved us a couple of times too, but he gave one goal and looked bad for me.
-Puyol - 5. Only decent. But another victim of the defensive mess. At least, he also showed shame and tried to give an impulse to the team.
-Márquez - 3. Outplayed by Guti, always late, always bad.
-Deco - 2. Deco... go to hell.
-Xavi - 5. Bad in the first half, better in the 2nd, especially since Belletti came in.
-Iniesta - 7. He was great, our best mid by a mile. This guy is extraordinary and, for a long time during the game, Iniesta was the only one who kept the team on their feet.
-Eto'o - 7. Very well. Salgado was destroyed in the first half. He missed a couple of chances, but we missed him. His presence on the pitch, the way he scares the rivals... we have noone like him for this. With a fit Eto'o, La Liga can not run away. I missed him a lot in the 2nd half.
-Ronaldinho - 4. Just 2 or 3 bits of decent football that have helped us after all... but awful in general.
-Messi - 9 MoM. Outstanding hat-trick. Torres must be crying, because he never stopped the Argie, our main threat in attack. He deserves a monument for his game today.
Subs:
-Sylvinho - 6. Quite lost when he came in. When the team gained balance, he appeared in attack and controled the defense.
-Belletti - 6. He added balance and still went forward giving us depth in attack.
-Gudjohnsen - 7. Fresh air in attack, fighting every single ball, helping the mid... the truth is that he made a dark work, but it was necesary to draw the game.
Rijkaard was awful with his tactics.
PS: Shameful tribute for Francisco Gonzalez, a fcuking fascist. Barça shouldn't have accepted this imposition by LFP. Disgusting.
