| Dear football fans, as you all might know, I had an operation in Hannover on friday, the 16. march 2007. The operation was successful and the donator and I are fine. I very happy, that I am now able to live a "normal life". The date was brought forward for medical reasons. I informed Klaus Allofs and Thomas Schaaf right away and made myself up to Hannover.
I did not want to push this private theme in the pubic once again and ask for your comprehension, that I wanted to avoid the hype about my illness.
Is is suprising, that in the last weeks the theme "contract extension" was in the media and it was tried to display a bad relationsship between Werder and me. You can trust me, that have not been interested in any contract extension in the world. Right now I need some days to rest and afterwards I will call Klaus Allofs.
As you will understand, I had different thoughts and had to concentrate on myself. I thank my parents, my brother, my wife, my daughter, the rest of my family, all my friends and YOU for the unconditional support. It is great to know, that someone cares for you. I also thank my doctors and the medical stuff.
P.S.: I hope, that I am fit soon and can return to the field. Congratulations to the success of Croatia and Germany!
