Negotiations for Giorgio Chiellini's transfer to Manchester City have been frozen due to apparent interest by cousins United in the Juventus defender, as they are willing to sacrifice Gabriel Heinze who is strongly wanted by Juve coach Claudio Ranieri.
It's an English derby for Giorgio Chiellini. That is the news which emerged yesterday, after the words of Juventus president Cobolli Gigli who allegedly froze the negotiations with Manchester City.
13 million euros not enough? Could be, in fact the player's agent Davide Lippi allegedly went to City's managers to ask whether the offer could be raised.
However, the truth seems to be different; apparently an emissary from Manchester United sent a clear message to Juve: "Freeze the negotiations with City for Chiellini if you really want to have Heinze."
What does this mean? That coach Claudio Ranieri will be able to get highly-rated Gabriel Heinze, the Argentinean full back with a German passport, if the current Juve left back is offloaded to Ferguson rather than Eriksson.
It remains to be seen what the next developments are. In any case the Red Devils are now strongly involved in the negotiations for Chiellini, the man who caused a stir at the Bianconeri after demanding to be treated economically the same way as the Juve's "senators".
