Suazo Snubs Inter Move
The Hondurian player's dream is that of playing alongside Francesco Totti at Roma.
Everything seemed to point out that David Suazo would be joining Inter this summer, as various reports from Italy had practically confirmed the move.
However, Suazo's latest comments seem to have complicated the matter as the Cagliari striker has other ideas in his mind rather than joining the Italian champions.
"Roma? I would come running," Suazo replied to some Roman journalists following the match against the Giallorossi.
"Playing alongside Totti would be the crowning of a dream and Spalletti's tactics are perfect for me. Now I will enjoy Cagliari's survival, I have a contract up till 2010 with the club, but maybe the time has arrived to move to a big team.
"Cagliari's Suazo has not given all he can: my qualities can surely be magnified in a big team which is fighting for ambitious objectives."
When asked if he had purchased a home in Milan to confirm his move to Inter, Suazo rebuffed the claim.
"No, I like the house I currently have... But then I always go to Rome, a city which I like a lot and where I take my family."
Even President Cellino confirmed that the Inter deal does not exist.
"Three months ago Roma asked me about Suazo. It's an important club and I would be happy if he goes there.
"Inter? I would be happy if he wore the Giallorossi's shirt or, in alternative, he remains at Cagliari," declared the President of the Rossoblu.
Suazo tempted by Roma
Cagliari striker David Suazo has admitted that he would welcome a move to Roma, despite the rumours that he had agreed to join Inter.
The Honduran, who scored his 14th goal of the season in Sunday’s win over the Giallorossi, has been linked with a departure from the Sant’Elia after eight years in Sardinia.
Reports last week suggested he had already agreed to a three-year contract with Inter although Nerazzurri President Massimo Moratti denied that there was any truth in the news.
“I think Luciano Spalletti’s technical scheme is perfect for me,” said Suazo after the match with Roma.
“I would be glad to join the Giallorossi, being able to play with Francesco Totti would be a dream come true for me,” added the striker.
“For now I want to enjoy the fact that we avoided relegation. I am contracted to Cagliari until 2010, but I think it is time for me to move on to a bigger club.
“I have given all I have to give to this outfit. I am sure that my qualities could be enhanced by playing for a club that fights for important objectives.”
Suazo also denied that he has already bought a house in Milan, as suggested by the latest transfer rumours.
“I like the house I have here. In any case I go to Rome very often. It is a city I love, where I am always glad to take my family,” concluded the Rossoblu.
Isolani President Massimo Cellino also stated that he would prefer to make a deal with the capital city club, although he still hopes Suazo will decide to stay at Cagliari.
“Roma asked for Suazo three months ago. They are an important club and I would be glad for him if he were to join them. Inter? I would like him to move to Rome or stay here with us.” |
