Mandorlini lands Siena post

Serie A minnows Siena have confirmed that Andrea Mandorlini will be their Coach during the 2007-08 campaign.

The latter comes in for Mario Beretta who, despite keeping the club in the top flight earlier this month, rescinded his contract by mutual consent last week.

“Siena’s technical staff for next season will be formed by general director Roberto Zanzi, sporting director Manuel Gerolin, team manager Sandro Federico and Coach Andrea Mandorlini,” announced the club.

“Siena welcome the new staff and wish them good luck for the future, certain that they will contribute to Robur’s glorious history by working with cohesion and competence.”

The new men will be presented officially after June 18, when the board of directors will ratify the appointment.

Mandorlini, a former defender, was a free agent after quitting as boss of Serie C side Padova two weeks ago.

The 46-year-old started his coaching career with Ravenna, before moving to Triestina, Spezia and Vicenza.

He then led Atalanta to Serie A promotion in 2003-04 prior to spells at Bologna and Padova from 2006.

Milan To Meet Eto'o And Offer Barça €40m

AC Milan officials will meet with Samuel Eto'o's agent in the next few days to try and tempt the striker to move to Serie A, according to a report in Italy.



zoom - galleria  The Italian giants have made no secret of their desire to sign the Cameroonian international over the summer and are prepared to offer around €40m for him.

Eto'o's representative, José María Mesalles, will speak with officials from Milan as the rumours continue to mount over the future of the former Mallorca forward.

A report in La Gazzetta dello Sport states that the Rossoneri's vice president, Adriano Galliani, will travel to Barcelona on June 18 to open negotiations.

The enormous offer will be made to Barça after the final weekend of the Spanish league season, while Eto'o will be tempted with a contract worth around €6m-per-season.

Milan are also said to be interested in Edmílson and Thiago Motta, according to the story in the Italian sports paper.

In recent weeks, Eto'o has been linked with a move to the Premiership but he has stated on more than one occasion that he has no desire to leave FC Barcelona.

While the speculation continues over the arrival of Thierry Henry, the Blaugrana could well be open to an offer of such a magnitude in order to fund the rest of their summer rebuilding programme.

Eto'o has had a troubled campaign as he caused a well-publicised rift by refusing to appear as a substitute after returning from five months out with a knee injury earlier this term.
