Report: Hill agrees to join Suns
July 5, 2007
ORLANDO, FLORIDA (TICKER) -- Free agent forward Grant Hill has agreed a deal to sign with the Phoenix Suns, according to a report in the Orlando Sentinel on Thursday.
The deal cannot be confirmed until the end of the NBA's moratorium on free agents on July 11.
Hill, 34, has spent seven seasons with the Orlando Magic but battled injuries and never fulfilled his promise.
The Sentinel reports he will receive the $1.2 million veteran's exception from Phoenix, and hopes to be rewarded with an NBA title.
Hill is coming off a seven-year, $93 million contract which expired at the end of last season.
The 6-8 Duke product, the seven-time All-Star averaged 14.4 points per game last season, playing in 65 games.
He played only 202 regular season games for the Magic as he underwent five surgeries on his left ankle, as well as a hernia operation, after arriving from Detroit in a sign-and-trade deal in 2000.
