According to various reports, the FA Cup holders are ready to battle with Fulham for the 25 year-old’s services.
After a difficult spell in Spain with Real Sociedad and Numancia after the 2002 World Cup, the winger would jump at the chance of a move to Stamford Bridge.
"After failing in the Primera Liga, I though it would be difficult to play in a European league. However, I regained my confidence by playing games in the World Cup and other international matches,'' Lee told reporters in Korea.
"When I first went to Spain I was too immature, but if I have the chance again, I will play with determination not to come back to Korea.''`
"A few years ago, I expressed hopes of going to Chelsea and was criticized for the remark on the Internet. Now I would like to play in England although nothing has happened thus far. But I am glad to hear the prestigious English side is interested in me,'' he said.
The fact that both Chelsea and Fulham are both sponsored by leading Korean conglomerates, Samsung and LG respectively, has led to remarks that Lee is in demand more for his nationality than skills.
The 2005 K-League Player of the Year, who played scored the winner in midweek as Ulsan Hyundai Horang-i defeated Suwon Samsung Bluewings, doesn’t agree.
"`I don't believe money is everything in the English league. If Chelsea were not interested in me, it would not try to recruit me through the sponsorship. I heard from my agent that negotiations on my moving to the English league is underway,'' he said.

朴智星後又一個韓國人加盟英超豪門？
新浪體育訊 四天前《天空體育》轉載韓國媒體消息，稱蔚山現代隊的韓國快馬前鋒李天秀有可能在夏季來到斯坦福橋，此事引起了多家英國媒體關注，很多人都對這名沒能與富勒姆達成加盟協議卻突然要去切爾西的亞洲人很感興趣。李天秀近日在接受採訪時談起了這樁英韓兩國媒體頗為關注的事情。
為這樁交易牽線搭橋的是切爾西主贊助商、韓國三星公司，不過李天秀口氣堅定的說對方不是為了商業利益。「我認為切爾西看中我不是因為商業原因，他們對我感興趣，因為他們需要我。」目前英超賽場上活躍著四名韓國人，分別是曼聯的朴智星，熱刺的李容杓，雷丁的薛綺鉉和米堡的李東國。
李天秀也曾在西甲效力，韓日世界盃之後他加盟了當時的西甲強隊皇家社會隊，可惜球隊戰績不佳以及他自身傷病較多，3年後他回到韓國聯賽。李天秀說，自己的留洋夢想從未結束。「離開西甲後我一度認為很難回到歐洲聯賽踢球，但是通過世界盃和國家隊比賽，我已經完全恢覆信心。幾年前我就曾希望去切爾西踢球，當時網上有很多評論，批評聲居多。現在我希望能去英超，儘管到目前為止事情還沒有實質性進展，不過我很高興聽到英超超級球隊對我有意思的消息。」
兩家球隊切爾西和蔚山現代還沒有對此時發表評論，不過從李天秀的口氣看事情應該能朝著積極方向進展。儘管球員本人否認這是商業轉會，但大家心裡都明白其中的內幕。主贊助商從中操作，而且藍軍不用花錢還能擴展亞洲市場，俱樂部有可能接受這個交易，不過球隊目前已經在中前場囤積了大量頂級球員，李天秀又不是穆里尼奧欽定人選，所以他在斯坦福橋的前景不會太樂觀。(黎璐) |
