Drogba now "regrets" comments
The Ivory coast ace had said in an interview with France Football that the departure of former manager Jose Mourinho had destroyed morale amongst the Chelsea squad to such an extent that he felt it was irreparable.
Drogba told the French magazine: "I want to leave Chelsea. Nothing can stop me from leaving now. Something is broken with Chelsea."
But after an apparent u-turn, the 29-year-old expressed regret at his words and pledged his future to the Blues - at least until the end of the current campaign.
"On reflection, I regret making the comments I made in a recent interview," Drogba told the club's official website.
"I am a Chelsea player and will be 100% committed and supportive to my manager, my team mates and the club.
"I will not be discussing my future any further until I meet privately with the club at the end of the season."
In the magazine interview, the £24 million player had also commented on disagreements at the top of the Chelsea hierarchy that led to the Portugese coach leaving Stamford Bridge.
He said: "The damage in the dressing room is big because we know now what happened and who caused Mourinho's departure."
Chelsea are currently seventh in the Premier League but are unbeaten under new manager Avram Grant since the Israeli's first match in charge away to Manchester United.
The club also still have Roman Abramovich's spending power, but Drogba appeared adamant that he wanted to move on, no matter who comes into the club.
He said: "I know that Ronaldinho and Kaka are linked to come next season but even that won't change my mind."
Chelsea had earlier issued a statement saying: "Didier Drogba signed a new four-year contract last year.
"As a top professional we are sure Didier is committed to Chelsea and intends to honour that contract."
Drogba identified Milan, Internazionale, Barcelona and Real Madrid as possible future clubs, telling France Football: "I need a club where I would be prepared to break a leg to win."
His initial comments put Chelsea on the back foot onec again, but Grant insisted he needed to talk with the goal ace before he himself commented in public on what has been said.
"I know that it is not the first time he has said it," Grant said. "But I have not seen him yet. I need to do that first. It is internal business.
"I cannot tell you anything until I speak with him. Basically I don't like to speak about players in the papers, I like to discuss it with them.
"I have read many things that were not true, because I was on the inside, about problems in the dressing room. Now you know there was no problem in the dressing room until now and I hope it will continue like that. This attitude has brought us good results in a very difficult time.
"I am very happy with the atmosphere and the attitude of the players until now and I am sure that it will continue."
