Steve McClaren has thrown his hat in the ring for the vacant managerial position at Blackburn.
Mark Hughes' decision to quit Ewood Park for Manchester City may have opened up a return to football for the former England coach.
While accepting his time at the helm of the national side was a 'huge failure' an absence from the game has merely whetted his appetite for a return.
Blackburn, who are thought to have Sam Allardyce or Paul Ince at the top of their wish list, are yet to make contact with a man whose last domestic role was with Middlesbrough.
"Of course that (Blackburn) would interest me," McClaren told 5 Live.
"Unfortunately what happened with England was a huge failure but I want to get back into management."
No timescale
Rovers chairman John Williams has insisted that the club are in no rush to make an appointment.
"I can't set a timescale - there's no point in setting false hurdles that you don't need to jump over," said Williams.
"We can't be too hasty. It's a crucial, important decision but it's obvious I'd like to do it as quickly as possible." |
