Villa admits Reds interest
Liverpool temptation for Spanish ace
Spanish star David Villa has hinted he would like to move to Liverpool, if he heads to England this summer.
The Valencia striker has lit up Euro 2008 with four goals in their opening two group games.
A host of clubs are tracking Villa with Liverpool and Chelsea reported to be heading the queue for the diminutive front-man.
Villa, who has linked up so well with current Reds star Fernando Torres for Spain, admits he would be tempted by the prospect of playing with him on a weekly basis.
"Liverpool and Chelsea are both big clubs with a lot of attraction," he told the News of the World.
Villa also admitted that Liverpool's Spanish coach Rafa Benitez could play a big role in attracting him as he tried to sign him earlier in his career.
"Liverpool have a Spanish coach and I also have a lot of friends there," he said.
"When Rafa was coach at Valencia and I was at Zaragoza there was contact about me joining Valencia but I couldn't arrive until the year after he left there."
United join AA recovery?
There's renewed speculation that United are attempting to land long-term transfer target Andrei Arshavin ahead of a deadline announced by his club Zenit St.Petersburg.
Speaking about the 26 year-old midfielder, a Zenit official confirmed that if no transfer is concluded before June 20th, then Arshavin will remain at the UEFA Cup winners.
Arshavin didn't feature for Russia against Greece on Saturday due to suspension, but is available to face Sweden on Wednesday.
Trio revved up to land Carr
Full-back Stephen Carr has a trio of Premier League clubs vying for his signature after his contract with Newcastle expired.
Carr, 31, will decide between West Ham, Bolton and Portsmouth after the former Republic of Ireland defender was not offered a new deal by Kevin Keegan.
Carr signed a four-year deal for Newcastle in August 2004 when then manager Bobby Robson signed him for a fee of £2million.
But the signing of Habib Beye along with Carr's recent fitness problems pushed the former Spurs defender down the pecking order.
