Arsène Wenger is “very confident” Emmanuel Adebayor will be staying with Arsenal.

The Togo striker has been the subject of speculation for much of the summer with the English press suggesting he may follow Mathieu Flamini to Milan or Alex Hleb to Barcelona.

However, speaking after the opening pre-season friendly, Wenger seemed pretty certain the 24-year-old would remain at Emirates Stadium.

“Adebayor is a player of Arsenal Football Club and I am very confident he’ll stay,” said the Frenchman.

“If you come in tomorrow with £400 million then maybe I would think about it. But I don’t really want to go in to speculation. I want to keep Adebayor.”
