Arsenal accept Boro bid for Hoyte
Justin Hoyte
Hoyte played 30 times during a loan spell at Sunderland in 2005/06

Middlesbrough are set to sign full-back Justin Hoyte after Arsenal accepted an undisclosed offer.

Hoyte, 23, is a graduate of the Gunners academy but has struggled to establish himself in the first team.

"We have now been given permission to speak to Justin, which we will be doing in the next 24-48 hours," said Boro chief executive Keith Lamb.

If the deal goes ahead, Hoyte would be a replacement for Luke Young, who left Boro last week to join Aston Villa.

And the former former England Under-21 international already knows the north-east after spending the 2005/06 season on loan at Sunderland.

On Wednesday, Hoyte was a substitute for Arsenal's Champions League qualifier against Dutch club FC Twente, who are managed by ex-Middlesbrough and England boss Steve McClaren, but did not make it onto the pitch.

Arsenal can confirm that Justin Hoyte has joined Middlesbrough for an undisclosed fee.

Former England Under-21 international Hoyte (23) progressed through the Club’s youth ranks after joining Arsenal at the age of nine. Justin made his first team debut in May 2003 in a Premier League match against Southampton at Highbury and went on to make a total of 68 first-team appearances during his time with the Club, including 15 in the 2007/08 campaign.

Everyone at Arsenal would like to thank Justin for his contribution towards the Club and wish him the best of luck at Middlesbrough.
