Town's bid to bring Shola Ameobi to Portman Road has been put on hold for now as the player recovers from a hamstring injury.
A fee has been agreed between Blues and Newcastle for the 26-year-old striker but the hamstring problem became apparent when the
player underwent a medical.
Ameobi sustained the injury during pre-season and Town's stringent medical showed that his hamstring has not completely healed.
He is unlikely to be fit before the end of the August transfer window so Blues are now exploring other options with Newcastle
regarding the former England U21 international.

"It's disappointing but you have to be careful with hamstring injuries and we don't want a repeat of last season when Shefki Kuqi
joined us and suffered a hamstring injury in his first game," says Town boss Jim Magilton.

之前施維斯達已經決定加盟曼城，31歲的他因為狀態和傷病，在曼聯失去了位置，不過曼城許諾給他高薪和主力待遇。施維斯達前往曼城接受體檢，結果中途他接到來自阿仙奴的電話，告訴他希望他能來阿仙奴，施維斯達隨即放棄在曼城的體檢。
離開曼城，施維斯達直接前往阿仙奴約好的地點，和雲格見了面。如果沒有意外的話，阿仙奴可能在一周之內就宣佈施維斯達的加盟。
一位阿仙奴內部官員向《太陽報》確認了這一消息︰“阿仙奴希望能找到一位有經驗的球員和基治輪換，我們認為施維斯達是不錯的旋足。在法國的時候，施維斯達和雲格有過合作。”上賽季施維斯達只為曼聯出場6次，《太陽報》透露，施維斯達的轉會將不需要花錢。
從新聞來看，引進施維斯達是不用錢的，這也符合教授一貫花小錢的風格，何況施維斯達是法國人。他的到來當然不會進入主力陣容，他的角色更多的是擔當基治的替補，增加板怠榴度。他打中堅的表現不敢恭維，但打邊後衛還是比較靠譜的，哪怕他再漏勺，也比查奧爾穩吧。

But Anderson will have no time to celebrate or commiserate the result of Friday's clash, as he will jet back to England instantly to rejoin his United team-mates.

And not before time, from Ferguson's point of view.

The Red Devils are in the midst of an injury crisis, with Owen Hargreaves, Michael Carrick, Cristiano Ronaldo and Ryan Giggs all unavailable all suffering from some malady or other.

Such is the depletion of the European champions' squad that it was thought Anderson would skip the Olympics, after the Court of Arbitration for Sport granted clubs permission to block their stars from competing in Beijing.

But Ferguson allowed the 20-year-old to represent his country at the Games, although he may now be regretting that decision.

Anderson is a chance to feature in Monday's Premier League stoush against Portsmouth.
