Robinho has revealed to BBC Sport his reasons for leaving Manchester City's training camp in Tenerife.

The Brazilian midfielder stunned team-mates and staff with his departure on Monday but has claimed his absence had been pre-arranged with the club.

"I had made Manchester City aware that I needed to return to Brazil because of a family matter," Robinho said.

"I will return to the club and hope to sort out this matter as soon as possible," added the 24-year-old.
