Arsenal plan £9m raid for West Ham United star Carlton Cole - report

According to The Sun, Arsenal are preparing a £9 million bid for West Ham United's star striker, Carlton Cole.
The Gunners are short in attack at present, with injuries to Robin van Persie and Nicklas Bendtner forcing Arsene Wenger to use playmaker Andrei Arshavin as an auxiliary front-man.
Bendtner is due to undergo tests on his groin this Friday, and the manager recently admitted that he will have no choice but to splash the cash if the Dane is ruled out any longer.
Wenger said: "There is a 50-50 chance we'll sign somebody. Even if Bendtner is OK we will look around and if we find a good bargain we will still do it."
Cole has been widely tipped to leave Upton Park this winter, as West Ham's financial crisis means they will be expected to offload some of their stars - despite Gianfranco Zola's insistences to the contrary.
A number of big clubs have been linked with the England hitman, who has seven goals to his name this season and would be eligible to play in the Champions League.
